Congratulations to Regnald, a Jack Petchey Award Winner!
At the age of 8, Regnald was encouraged by his dad to learn the keyboard so he wouldn’t waste his time at home during COVID lockdown. When his dad bought a small keyboard, Regnald enjoyed playing just to hear the sounds, but he didn’t show much interest in learning. He attended keyboard classes for a week, but he wasn't happy there. His dad decided to help him learn, even though he wasn't very skilled at playing the keyboard himself. With the help of YouTube lessons and music books, his dad guided him, and Regnald improved his skills. He eventually performed at church for the first time. Later, Regnald showed interest in the harmonica, which he learned to play on his own, again with his dad’s encouragement. He worked hard to develop his talent. Initially, he practiced for five to 6 hours a day, and when he moved to the UK, he practiced in his free time and on weekends. He didn’t set a specific practice time but took every opportunity to learn. When he faced difficult notes, he sometimes felt like giving up. He won the first prize (£20) in the Notley Got Talent event. He Participated in Braintree's Got Talent and gave quite often Musical presentations at Care-homes.
