Leadership

At Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form, we are proud to be led by a committed and experienced team who share a clear vision for improvement and success.  We believe that strong, visible leadership creates the conditions for students and staff to thrive - and that leadership should always be rooted in our core values: Honesty, Effort, Ambition, Respect and Teamwork (HEART).

Our Leadership team is united by a commitment to raising standards, improving outcomes, and ensuring that every student feels valued, supported, and able to achieve their personal best.

A Values-Led Approach

We lead with purpose and integrity.  Everything we do is guided by HEART - not only in how we make decisions, but in how we model expectations to students, staff and the wider community.

We aim to:

  • Ensure a high-quality education for all students
  • Promote a calm, inclusive and respectful school culture
  • Remove barriers to learning and close gaps in attainment
  • Equip students with the confidence, character and skills to succeed beyond school
  • Build strong partnerships with families and local community

We believe in aspirational, student-centred leadership - and we are proud of the positive direction our school is taking.

Meet the Senior Leadership Team

Mr M Barrow - Headteacher

Leading Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form is a privilege.  I believe in the power of education to change lives - and in the importance of creating a culture where students are known, supported, and challenged to be their best.  HEART underpins everything we do.

Mr J Woodley - Deputy Headteacher (Quality of Education)

My passion lies in creating a curriculum that inspires students and supports great teaching.  I believe every young person should have access to high-quality learning that helps them grow in confidence and ambition.

Mrs S Howells - Deputy Headteacher (Behaviour, Attitudes and Attendance)

Positive behaviour and strong attendance go hand in hand with academic success.  I'm committed to ensuring every student feels safe, respected, and ready to engage in learning every day.

Mr P Sadler - Assistant Headteacher (Quality of Education)

Teaching and learning are at the heart of school life.  I work closely with staff to ensure that lessons are engaging, inclusive and help students achieve their full potential.

Miss M Roberts - Assistant Headteacher (Key Stage 4)

Supporting students through Key Stage 4 is about more that exam preparation - it's about helping them believe in themselves and take pride in their progress.  I want every student to leave Year 11 feeling confident and ready for their next chapter.

Mrs R Ketley - Assistant Headteacher (Closing the Gap, Strategic SENDCo)

I'm passionate about ensuring that every student - regardless of background or need - receives the right support to succeed.  Inclusion is not just a policy at Notley; it's a principle we live by.

Mr E Sainsbury - Head of Sixth Form

Our Sixth Form is a place where students grow into independent, ambitious young adults.  I'm proud to lead a team that supports their academic success and prepares them for life beyond school.

Miss K Murdoch - Designated Safeguarding Lead & Associate member of SLT

Safeguarding is the foundation of everything we do.  My role is to ensure every child feels safe, heard and supported - so they can focus on learning, growing and thriving.

Bridge Academy Trust

We are a collegiate and collaborative Trust, where, first and foremost, each school is a place of (high quality) learning, where young people ENJOY, ENRICH, ACHIEVE, ASPIRE.
